pillar 04

letters project

Letters from students on the path to healthcare or law, written to their future selves as the doctor or attorney they're becoming.

how it works

Any student interested in a career in healthcare or law can write a short letter, 100 to 300 words, from who they are right now to their future self, opening with "Dear Dr." or "Dear Attorney" and their own name. It's a reminder of why you started and a promise to stay the course. Letters are published on nala's site as a living anthology, so younger kids can see real people a few steps ahead of them on the path, and each semester closes with a Reading Night where a handful of writers read theirs aloud.

what volunteers do

Help review and edit submitted letters, spread the call for letters to students interested in healthcare and law, and help organize the semester's Reading Night.
